Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening confirming they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in contact with the league office.

The team omitted the name of Rice specifically in their statement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
