After Europe's recent men's golf championship victory, England Golf is calling on the government to support their proposal to organize the Solheim Cup in the country for the very first occasion.

This renowned tournament between the leading women players of Europe and the United States has taken place twice in Scotland and in Wales but never in England. An official proposal has been prepared to organize it at The Grove in Hertfordshire in 2030.

But organizers require £30m to back this proposal and currently only £10m is in place. The organizing body is urgently seeking government funding to underwrite the shortfall.
