Iran Claims Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Military Operations.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched strikes across the region in response for a large-scale and continuing offensive targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any damage is not yet known and the United States has remained silent.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - said they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted sites linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with notable success and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported wreckage fell on a populated district in the capital, causing some material damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
