Rise, Sir David: Beckham Knighted by the Monarch at Windsor Castle Ceremony

David Beckham received a honorary title at Windsor Castle on Tuesday. The ex-national team leader, fifty, was one of the individuals receiving awards for his services to sport and charity. Earlier this year, he stated he was “immensely proud” of being recognised in the King’s birthday honours.

Soccer Achievements

Beckham made his Premier League debut for the Red Devils in the mid-nineties and was part of the team that secured a thrilling European Cup win in 1999 when they defeated the German giants with two late goals.

Overall, he netted eighty-five scores and garnered accolades including multiple English championships and domestic cup wins as a soccer professional, before retiring from the sport in 2013. Alongside his football career, he has backed a number of charity causes, including serving as a charitable representative for global aid group the United Nations Children's Fund since the mid-2000s.

Philanthropy and Beyond

Last year, Beckham, who has described himself as a “devoted monarchist”, was appointed an official representative for the King’s Foundation, an non-profit organization founded by the King in the early nineties. In the late nineties he was named top fashion icon by a leading publication and he has posed for brands like H&M, the Italian designer, and Boss.

David married his wife Victoria in the turn of the millennium and the couple have a family of four kids together – their eldest, Romeo, the third child, and their daughter.
