Shocking Video Shows Point Officers Are Stabbed in Unexpected Assault
One police sergeant that leaped to the aid of a partner that got attacked by a blade-wielder has been awarded the Royal Recognition for Valor.
Sergeant Tim Ansell grappled with 27-year-old Jacob Brown following he placed a knife to the throat of his colleague Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown launched his attack as the policemen and their colleague, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were speaking to a motorist subsequent to a road collision in that location in summer 2023.
Brown stabbed and slashed the two Sergeant Ansell and Sgt Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft stunned him with a stun gun.
"Officer attacked," PC Wolstencroft was heard to say over his communication device.
Bodyworn and vehicle camera video made public by the agency depicted Brown, who was dressed in black with a hood covering head, approach to Sgt Foster from the rear with a weapon extended.
He ran into the officer who lost balance and dropped to the ground, before Sgt Ansell jumped in and tried to wrestle him to the pavement despite being multiple times hit with the weapon.
Police Constable Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and waited for a clear shot, ending the struggle to an finish.
Sergeant Ansell stated audibly: "Please provide help on my neck now, I got knifed in the neck."
Sergeant Ansell sustained two lacerations to his neck and more injuries to his arms and torso, while Sgt Foster suffered knife wounds.
Officials said Sgt Foster employed his hands to stop his colleague's blood loss prior to medical personnel arrived.
This most recent award follows subsequent to the law enforcement team received organizational Bravery Awards in October 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the regional Police Federation in spring 2024.
They additionally received a North West Bravery Award in mid-2024.
"The actions of all three officers in the end protected each other and ensured no members of the public endured any injuries."
Brown was sentenced to an indefinite hospital order in early 2024, per authorities.
