The President Welcomes Relatives of Attacked Military Members to the White House

President Trump stated on Sunday that he has invited the relatives of a Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the White House.

He added that he contacted her family and they were “devastated”.

Information on the Tragic Event

Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was fatally shot in a shooting on Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her colleague, Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in grave state.

Gatherings across West Virginia have occurred in their honor.

Presidential Invitation

The commander-in-chief said he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both members of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” the president informed reporters. “And similarly with Andrew, recover or not.”

Public Response

Attendees came together over the weekend at the high school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to support law enforcement in the capital.

Honoring the Soldier

“She was the kind of student that teachers wished for. She carried herself with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that inspired people around her,” the principal, the head of her former high school, told the media. “She was caring, caring and always willing to help others.”

Funeral details for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Legal Measures and Government Changes

Law enforcement have charged a 29-year-old Afghan national with one count of first-degree murder and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The incident led the Trump administration to suspend refugee claims and temporarily stop issuing visas to possessors of travel documents.

Status of Wolfe

Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, began his service in February 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, according to the Associated Press.

He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey mentioned on television.

The state’s top lawyer Bondi told Fox News Sunday that she also intended to visit his relatives.

Memory of Sarah Beckstrom

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from her high school in 2023 and enlisted soon after, serving as a law enforcement officer with excellence, per the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had bravery,” he told the crowd at the vigil. “Though her time ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
